Hours: Required to work a minimum of 160 hours across the year (Jan-Dec)
Pay: £16.35 per hour

We are looking for a Heritage Teacher to work in Peterborough Museum. This role will be on an annualised hours contract, to work 160 hours a year during term time.
Within this role you will be preparing and leading education school sessions, contributing to the development of the Heritage Education Programme and representing and leading outreach learning sessions across Peterborough Schools.
Therefore, enabling the education service to grow and serve more schools from both within and outside the city.
What does the role involve?
- To prepare and deliver education school sessions at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery.
- To deliver outreach learning sessions – delivering museum sessions in schools.
- To contribute to the growth of an exciting cultural education programme.
- To contribute to the development of current and future programmes and projects.
Key Deliverables
- To represent and deliver the values and expectations as set out by Peterborough Limited.
- To deliver museum learning sessions as set out by the Museum Learning Coordinator, at the Museum and in schools.
- To set up, take down, check and prepare resources related to the sessions taught.
- To contribute to the review and development of the learning programme
- To participate in school events and other school or learning activities, to participate in planning new sessions, school events and activities, and reviewing the learning programme.
- To deliver school sessions in accordance with the National Curriculum and session learning objectives.
- To demonstrate commitment to your professional development by evaluating your own practice and learning from the effective practice of others.
- To represent the Museum to school groups and ensure they receive an excellent experience and high standard of customer service
- To attend staff training that is appropriate to the role.
- To be aware of health and safety related to all the activities.
- To ensure awareness of relevant site fire evacuation procedures and related risk assessments.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Experience working within a school and/or heritage site environment
- Experience working with school aged children within 1 or more key stages
- Experience and confidence in presenting, performing and engaging with children or leading a group
- Excellent customer care skills
- An interest in museums, heritage, history, natural science, the arts or culture
- English Language at GCSE (C or above) or equivalent
- Teaching qualification or experience working in schools or with children.
- An interest in museums, heritage, history, natural science, the arts or culture
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum
Hours:
- 160 hours per year (January to December)
- You will be required to work term time and be willing to lead some activities during school holidays
