Peterborough Limited are recruiting for a permanent part time Heritage Teacher to work in Peterborough Flag Fen.
Based in Peterborough, we have two permanent annualised hours contract working a minimum of 198 hours or 208 hours per year.
What does the role involve?
- Within this role you will be preparing and leading education school sessions, contributing to the development of the Heritage Education Programme and representing and leading outreach learning sessions across Peterborough Schools.
- Therefore, enabling the education service to grow and serve more schools from both within and outside the city.
Key Deliverables
- To deliver existing sessions as set out by the Learning Co-ordinator.
- To co-ordinate new sessions, school events and activities, and to contribute to regular review the learning programme – including research, preparation and evaluation
- To prepare new resources related to the sessions taught
- To undertake research in a chosen related field – for example, history of medicine, Roman Peterborough, local social history to contribute to the growth of the education offer
- To contribute to the development of the new CPD programme and being a key member of Teacher Forums
- To teach school sessions in accordance with the National Curriculum and the learning objectives as set out by the school
- To ensure our key teaching values to inspire learning are delivered and to ensure access to all children of all abilities and ages – to be an excellent teacher
- To support and mentor volunteers and new members of staff, including trainee teaching staff
- To provide lead supervision of small and medium groups of up to 60 children and adults
- To be aware of health and safety related to all the activities
- To adhere to Safeguarding and Confidentiality policies
- To ensure awareness of fire evacuation procedures and related risk To co-ordinate new sessions, school events and activities, and to contribute to regular review the learning programme – including research, preparation and evaluation
Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Working within a school and/or heritage site environment
- Working with school aged children within 1 or more key stages
- Experience of supporting Higher Order Thinking Skills in teaching
- Working with a range of internal and external support
- Experience of working to safeguarding procedures to protect children
- Sound SEN knowledge
- Experience of working with children with special needs is desirable.
- Drama experience would be desirable
